Caroline Brothers is the wedding and family photographer behind 704 Photography. Jordan from Studio 9 Company created her brand identity and web design that best fits her dramatic aesthetic. I worked with Caroline to implement the technical elements of her brand – search engine optimization, tech consulting, and custom WordPress theme development.
Site Audit: Optimization + Security
As part of the development of her site, I worked with Caroline to set up and organize the tech-based elements of her brand. As a result of the audit, I identified critical areas that would create a foundation for her digital presence. I migrated her site from GoDaddy to SiteGround (website and domain), and then cleaned up her previously hacked database and files. Once secured, Caroline and I strategized essential keywords for her business. I established an overall SEO framework and worked with her to implement those practices into her posts and pages.
Once presented with the wireframe, the development focused on the best practices for implementing specific features. Project priorities included growing website traffic and efficiency of the template. Since Caroline’s previous website did not contain any blog content, her new design seemed like she was starting fresh. Using Bloglovin and other feed readers as a way to build her audience, portfolio entries fall under blog posts. This practice ensures that readers get notified each time she enters a new project. The layout of her portfolio is similar to other categories, but the template is differentiated. By keeping her blog posts and portfolio projects as one, it is easy for Caroline to update her portfolio. After publishing a new project, her portfolio updates automatically. She then can customize where these projects show up on her home page and other areas of the site.
